How You Can Help
Volunteer
The Sayre Public Library has many volunteer opportunities available.
Volunteers assist the staff in meeting the educational, informational,
and cultural needs of our local patrons. Time donated by volunteers
helps our staff to better meet the needs of each individual library
user.
Library volunteers are given many different responsibilities. Volunteers
may enjoy any one of the following tasks:
Shelving returned
items.
Reading and straightening our bookshelves periodically.
Moving older magazines into storage.
Using the microfilm reader to conduct genealogical research.
Assisting with children’s programming
Teaching our computer classes
Fundraising
Marketing and communications.
Assisting with website.
Teaching community programs.
Volunteers are asked to complete a volunteer application.

Friends of the Sayre Public Library
We are pleased to announce that the Friends of the Sayre Library
is being reformed. If you would like to donate time and energy,
spearhead a project-in-development, or even give some time to our
popular Story Hour for Children, please contact us at the library
or by sending an e-mail to the Public Library.
Monetary Donations
Alas, the electric company will not accept the latest copy of Harry
Potter as a form of payment, so monetary donations are also accepted.
These are used for maintenance, utilities, and purchases of various
necessities.
Memorial Gifts
Your loved ones may be gone, but their names can live on through your selfless giving. Donations made in honor of special people and loved ones are used to purchase books and other materials that the library might not otherwise be able to buy. These memorial items contain placards which give the names of the honoree and the donor. Please complete our Memorial Donation Form (PDF)
Bequests & Endowments
Public libraries, like all non-profit organizations, are at the
mercy of the ever-changing economy and political whims. We weather
lean times with the help of generous estate endowments and bequests.
Our benefactors are honored in perpetuity with a brass plaque on
our Honor Roll. Won't you consider remembering us in your will?
Book Donations
The library always accepts books, used or new. We examine each
book to determine if it belongs in our collection, or into our ongoing
book sale. For specific books, we recommend you visit our Amazon
Wish List to see items we have need of.
ALL DONATIONS MADE TO THE SAYRE PUBLIC LIBRARY ARE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE.
Spreading the Word
Changes at the library are on-going. Perhaps you know someone
who has never even set foot into our beautiful building, or doesn't
know about our wonderful programs. So tell your friends about the
upcoming Treible lecture, or the genealogy club, or even just the
latest books we've gotten in.
Use and Attend!!
And finally, the measure of a library's success is it's usage,
so come on down and see what your favorite authors have been up
to, or attend one of our events. You won't be disappointed! |
