“On this Day”: Exploring Historic Events Through Microfilm

“On This Day” is a unique event: It allows an instructional opportunity to not only explore newspaper articles detailing historical national events, but also a chance to understand how these events were published and viewed locally. For this end, the library’s in-house microfilm reader will be utilized. While this event will allow patrons to view such events, they will mainly serve as a means of instruction on the use and operation of our microfilm reader. The reader serves a variety of purposes, and additional services such as cropping, printing, and emailing images are available for research purposes. All of this will be discussed in an hour and a half workshop.
